Celades: "We can't think about what will happen in May; we need to focus on winning tomorrow"
Albert Celades previewed Valencia CF's trip to the RCDE Stadium to play Espanyol in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
RCD Espanyol
"They've won a few games since their change of coach, against Levante and Ludogorets. Those games were away from home, but they are a side who are going to give us many difficulties. They're trying to change their dynamic after a start to the campaign in which their coach didn't have much good fortune. We're going there with the intention of having a good game and winning, despite the difficulties we might encounter."
Returning to the best form of the season
"Against Sevilla the other day we were back to the way we played against Atletico at the Wanda. What left us feeling a little cold about things was the two games inbetween, against Lille and in Pamplona. Those were a little different to the performances we had been having. Against Sevilla we had some very good moments during the game, and we need to make sure that this happens more often and that we have more consistency in our play."
A lack of chances
"We managed to deactivate Sevilla FC. They didn't have many chances, considering the potential that they have. Despite the good moments we had during the game, we lacked those situations in the opposition area in which we could have more players forward and have clearer chances to score."
The atmosphere at Mestalla
"It's very important for us to have the fans helping us. I only have words of thanks for them, because we are the first to have to show them gratitude. Regardless of the situation that the club are in, or any opinions about people at the club -which are completely respectable- the main thing is the players, and they deserve all of the support, affection and support of the fans. I think that the fans also see it that way."
Fitness concerns
"We attribute it to the number of games we've had, and to the high demand that there is at this level. We're at a very big club, and we compete in LaLiga and the Champions League. We're on the limit in every game and that has led to these absences."
Two months in charge
"Overall, we aren't satisfied. We want more. We're at a very big club and our objective is to be better every day, have more points and make the fans enjoy themselves more. We are trying, we continue working on this and we aren't satisfied with what we have achieved."
The objective for the season
"There's a lot of talk about our objective being to get into the Champions League, and I hope we do, but there's a long way to go for that and it's a consequence of winning games. We have to face the present and the immediate future with the best mentality and attitude. We can't think about what will happen in May; we need to focus on winning tomorrow."
